CELEBRATE WOMEN! FREE GIFT OF CHOICE with $100 ORDER - SELECT AT CHECKOUT

We all see those teeth whitening ads and long for "model" bright pearly whites to flash. It is estimated to be a $2 billion industry by 2017 as everyone is in search of the magic bullet to whiter teeth. I know I could stop drinking coffee, tea and red wine to help myself out...but really a girl needs a little bit of fun in her life.

I read an article the other day on the benefits of brushing your teeth with just coconut oil and the new craze for oil pulling, an ancient Ayurvedic technique for oral hygiene dating back 3000 years. I LOVE all things coconut oil on my body, hair, and face but still thought to myself "hmmm how would that work?", "what would that feel like?", and most importantly "I can do better and add stuff to it to make it work even better!".  Thus I got to work.

It was a Sunday night at 10pm and I started pulling out jars of stuff in my kitchen (as my husband watched with half smirk and half curiosity as he is used to this craziness by now).

Here is what I used to create my homemade toothpaste:
2 Tbsp Organic Virgin Coconut Oil
1 tsp Baking Soda
8 drops Peppermint Essential Oil (I use doTerra because of their high quality and rigorous testing)

And off I ran to my bathroom to try my new concoction.  I have used it now morning and night for my 10 day challenge and won't stop now. My teeth and gums have never felt more clean (like that fresh from the dentist kind of clean) and most of all they look remarkably whiter! I visited my dentist yesterday and got the thumbs up too.

Here's an article on oil pulling and the benefits of coconut oil for oral hygiene if you are interested in learning more.
